PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The 6-qt. oval Coq au Vin Dutch Oven is the ideal choice for slow-cooked beef stew or roasted chicken, with ample room for veggies, too. From the Alsace region in France, where one pot meals were a staple, it's designed for stovetop or oven, with a well-fitted lid to seal in juices and flavor. Unique to Staub cookware is the top-notch, durable cast-iron melded perfectly with attractive enameled ceramic, plus a self-basting lid so there's no need to monitor contents. The heavy metal knob is oven safe to 600 degrees. Side handles make it easy to transport to the table, where it makes an attractive serving piece.
From the Alsace region of France comes this incredibly striking yet resilient cookware by Staub. Made of cast iron and finished in rich shades of enameled ceramic, it originated with the round and oval Dutch oven, and has evolved into a complete line of cookware used by top chefs around the globe. Unique to Staub pots are the self-basting spikes, small peaks jutting from the lid underside that continuously redistribute juices as they collect during the cooking process. In addition, each piece is created in a unique sand mold and made of the finest raw materials available, fired repeatedly to last over generations of cooks. It won't discolor, warp or produce hotspots and never requires seasoning. The even heat distribution and lasting heat retention are what make it so desirable, and what produces the most intense flavor and tenderness in every meal.

Excellent value
Yeah, it's not cheap, but it lasts a lifetime and you can use it for all sorts of foods. Compared with a similar Le Creuset, it seems to brown things better, as well. From baking bread, chili, braised foods, and roasted chicken, this thing is my favorite kitchen tool next to a chef's knife. Also it looks really pretty. I highly recommend it.

Worth the money!!
This makes the best soups, stew, etc. So far I have made Gumbo and French Onion Soup. It keeps things from burning (I have a tendency to do too many things at once and get distracted.) I have also found it easy to clean.

Superior Cooking Tool
We love our dutch oven by Staub. The quality is worth the price. We tried other dutch ovens and found them falling apart/chipping after only a couple of uses. We are 'flexitarians' who tend to cook a lot of veggie meals that we can spread out throughout the week. We choose organic, natural, and local foods and the flavors meld together and cook thoroughly in our Staub. great chicken in a pot -pot
I ordered THIS dutch oven after looking at many (some more expensive and some less) the description and manufactoring information was available on cooking . com and upon receipt this information was correct. I think this purchase was a good value for offered price. This dutch oven has performed wonderfully and looks great sitting on the stove top when not in use.
