Larger in real-life! Handsome AND smart!
We can fit a lot into this pail such as a carton of eggshells, that last forgotten half of a cucumber, acorn squash shells, dead leaves from our houseplants, etc. I was concerned our coffee grounds might oxidize the interior, so I found a round, 1gal juice jug about 6.5in wide, cut the top down to 7in high (to clear the inside of the lid), and use it as a liner (not purely organic, but a safer #1 plastic). Outside at the compost tumbler, we just tap out the liner, give it a swish with rain water and return it to the pail inside. If you let your scraps sit for a week or two, they'll break down more and you can till directly in your garden soil. As for the value, we thought the pail was expensive until we received it and compared its features to others we had considered. First of all, the polished finish looks good and could work with any decor. It's large enough to put on your floor, but not too big for a counter. We'd put it under the sink, but the reverse osmosis tank is in there. It is well ventinated and doesn't build up moisture, even with that soggy cucumber or tea bags in it. The filters really block the smell (you need a round and a square filter in layers within the lid). TWO sets of filters are included, which provides smell protection for a year (or more depending how smelly your kitchen scraps are and how often you empty the pail). If you need more filters, the cooking.com price for replacements is a good value (you get two sets=one year's supply). Just get 'em and save yourself the hassle of hunting for them later (some replacements are smaller and thinner). And freeship deals always make the price more manageable. This compost pail makes it easier for our small family to compost and live greener. When you have to decide,

I love the pail. It goes great with my kitchen appliances and does not look out of place. Holds (for my family) a weeks worth of compost. I have a very good sense of smell and I have tried other compost pails that did not keep the smell in. I could smell the food a few hours later. Not with this one. Even if I get right up to it. Even the next day. What a great product!!! Thank you, Mary

Compost bucket! Great idea!
My husband was keeping our inside compost in the little boxes/bins we get mushrooms in from the grocery, and sometimes (when it got to be too much for the box/bin) in plastic bags that sometimes leaked, and almost always smelled bad. So having this great, stainless steel, covered

This is an excellent item. This is our second one, and we have used it as a gift item for close friends. The charcoal filter eliminates all odors so keeping the pail on the counter top presents no problem. It is both practical and attractive.

No odor. Works great. Easy to utilize as the top just sits on the bottom can. When I used my old plastic container, sealing the lid can make it irritating to utilize.
