PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Canning is an economical way to preserve fresh quality foods at home while retaining their important vitamins and nutrients. The right equipment is essential to ensure a quality product and Granite Ware offers all the basics of blanching produce for the freezer or for cold-pack canning.
This 21.5-qt. enameled steel pot with lid and wire rack is 14-in. in diameter and 12.5-in. high with its lid on. It's the traditional favorite for making jams, jellies, preserves, and marmalades. It has a jar capacity of 7 quarts, 7 pints, 7-12oz jelly jars, 7 half pints or 7-4oz jelly jars. Without its rack, this old-fashioned, time-honored porcelain-on-steel pot becomes a perfect preserving kettle for large recipes.

Fragile Porcelin Coating
The porcelin coating chips off of this canner very easily. When it arrived the base was slightly dented which caused the porcelin to flake off and it is rusting where the porcelin used to be. Also, the first time I picked it up by the handles with water in it the place where the handles mount flexed causing the porcelin to chip off around the handles. It is very lightweight and thin metal. For the price I paid I expected more.

Price was a very good value. I haven;t started canning yet, but I'm sure I'll be more than satisfied.

Just what I've been looking for
I've recently been interested in doing some jelly making and home canning. This is the real deal. Only one thing I would have liked - that the jar rack would have compartments for each jar.so that the jars would not fall over when I use only a few jars.

Damaged Product
After opening the box I saw that the lid was damaged. About 3 inches of the coating on the edge of the lid was scraped off, exposing bare metal, also part of the lip was bent. I immediately contacted customer service. They would have sent a new lid but it was out of stock. Much to my surprise, they gave me a full refund. Problem was resolved to my satisfaction.
